Python is Back! New Course Starts 21 Nov 2017

Escape Studios recently launched a new Python Short Course, and its success means that we're running it again this November.

Python is a widely used high-level programming language for general-purpose programming, created by Guido van Rossum, and widely used in the VFX industry.

Most importantly for our students, Python is part of the architecture of Maya and Nuke, and an ability to master Python is a super-useful part of the digital artists' tool box.  Python is being taught at Escape Studios West (Shepherd's Bush), for five weeks from 21st November 2017.  It's a part-time course and costs £995.  To find out more, follow this link.

Here is how the course breaks down:

• Week 1: Basics of Python, data types, how to store and change data, importing modules. All about object orientated programming
• Week 2: Loops and "if statements", functions, main building blocks, list comprehension.
• Week 3: Using Python standard libraries and external libraries, reading and writing data from files.
• Week 4: Classes and how we can create our own Python objects.
• Week 5: Bringing it all together. Making a Maya and Nuke tool using the concepts covered.

Python tutor James Thompson has over four years' experience in visual effects, and is currently a Rigging Technical Director at Framestore. He got his start by completing his BSc and MSc in Computer Animation and Visual Effects at the University of Bradford.  James has spent three years at Framestore, where he has worked as a Render Wrangler and an Assistant TD, mainly scripting tools for animation and working on facial re-targeting. His many film credits include Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Doctor Strange, and Alien: Covenant.
