Animators Enter October "11 Second Club"

11 Second Club Entry by Maciej Osuch
Congratulations to our second Year animators at Escape Studios who tackled the 11 Second Club animation competition this past month, with all our students placing in the top half of the competition, and six placing in the top thirty.

The October competition had, as it usually does, a spooky theme; the line of dialogue was this: "You can really feel the history coming through the walls here...yeah, isn't it wonderful? ...Not when the history fights back!".

Six of our students placed in the top 30 - a superb effort and a great result, especially given that there were over 229 entries last month, many from working animators. All our students came up with their own imaginative and creative approaches to the 11 Second Club challenge.

In at Number 10 was Maciej Osuch's excellent animation, which you can see below. Maciej used the Malcolm rig by Anim School, and also the Moom rig, and set his animation inside a prison cell, with some very atmospheric lighting in Arnold.

In at Number 13 was a very imaginative entry by Tim Galton (below), who imagined the line taking place in a VR environment, using the cartoony "Mr Buttons" rig. In this submission, Mr Buttons is going through the experience inside his VR headset.

At Number 14 was Lucy Harris (below), who also used the Malcolm Rig. Lucy imagined the shot as a double act between an explorer and a robot, taking place underground in a dark tunnel. Lighting was also done in Arnold.

At Number 20 was Malvina Hedenburg (below), who also used the Mr Buttons rig, plus a cute little robot, and a bug, all set inside a prison cell.

At Number 27 was Daniel Lotter (below), who also used the Malcolm rig, imagining the scene inside an ancient tomb, with a surprise visitor.

At Number 28 was Aiden Lonergan (below), who imagined the scene as two children returning to their old school, using the "Mr Buttons" rig and the "Eleven" rig.  Lighting and rendering in Arnold.

Congratulations to all our students; they did us proud. Most importantly of all, they have all learned how to enter an international competition, and have their animation stand up against the best work done by students and also by professional animators around the globe.
